Owners: Be aware of these challenges

How do you stay in business if your building, inventory or equipment are damaged?

How do you keep current customers happy under catastrophic conditions?

How do you continue to produce without losing existing clients to your competitors?

How do you assist tenants or get paid loss of rental income after your property is repaired but your building is still vacant?

Most insurance policies are confusing and do not explicitly state how available coverage can best protect the unique challenges that each business faces. Here are four suggested steps to take following a loss.

  1. Be cooperative but take your time making decisions on what to do with your property following a loss.
  2. Be Proactive. Don’t allow the insurance company to determine the value of your claim for you.
  3. Fully understand your policy and all of your coverage benefits before moving forward.
  4. Consider having your own team to assist in the preparation of damages for you.

We’re advocating for you

Your insurance company may seem like it’s on your side following a loss like fire, hail or water damage to your business. In many cases, the company adjuster will  retain a team of building experts, contents specialists and forensic accountants to protect the insurance company interests in the claim. Even the playing field by having your own advocate: a public adjuster. We too work with many critical experts as necessary on claims.

Working solely on behalf of business owners and managers, The Claims Group public adjusting team will guide you through the claims process and maximize your commercial insurance policy. Releasing you from the burden of loss and stress of dealing with the recovery process, and obligations of supporting a claim, we do one thing very well: effectively use our expertise to handle your claim while you use your expertise to continue operating your business.

Every business and every commercial loss has different circumstances and needs. But rest assured, The Claims Group’s unmatched industry experience and compassionate yet scrupulous approach to advocacy will help you drive the claims process, recover what’s rightly owed — and get you back to business faster.

Always in your corner

The evaluation of an insurance claim can be quite different from the eyes of a property owner versus those of an insurance company. Over the years we have learned that business owners and managers are the most knowledgeable as to what it takes to protect their business. But they do not know how to effectively adjust and settle an insurance claim. Licensed, bonded and trusted, we work with you to achieve an optimized settlement of the claim. Most insurance policies have “All Peril” coverage, which means everything is covered unless it is specifically excluded. With our expertise, we help commercial entities with fire, hail, water damage, collapse, accidental events and everything in between.  And no property is off limits. We have handled claims for manufacturing facilities, multifamily properties, restaurants, churches, strip malls, retail stores and hotels, among others.

Here’s how it works:

Review the policy. We’ll give you a full understanding of coverage amounts, endorsements and provisions within your policy applicable to your claim.

Analyze claim complexity. We’ll dig into your commercial insurance policy to see if there are things like co-insurance, actual cash value or unusually large deductibles amounts that may make the claim more difficult.

Set claim objectives. We will meet as necessary to discuss repairs, rebuilding, and continuing operations following a loss to ensure a full understanding of the overall goals towards the settlement of the claim.

Notify the insurance company. As your public adjuster and advocate, we’ll eliminate the burden of you communicating with your insurance company so that all further communications are directed through The Claims Group.

Onsite assessment. Meet at your property to assess damage and determine if there is a need to retain other specialized consultants or engineers to support the claim.

Inventory of damages. We work with you to identify and inventory every item and detail in your home or business. These details are critical in capturing the complete and true value of your claim.

Submit damages. Once you’ve reviewed, understood and approved the assessed damages, we will submit the claim to your insurance company.

Final settlement. While you continue to conduct business, we’ll defend the claimed damages as presented until settlement is reached with the insurance company. You remain a part of the entire process and are the final decision maker in the outcome of the claim.
