Representing consumers in property-damage insurance claims for over two decades, we know firsthand the challenges a typical homeowner will face. Most likely you’ve never been through the process before, which can be scary. Plus, residential claims vary widely.
But there’s one constant: You, the homeowner, know more about your home and possessions than anyone. Insurance company adjusters have many claims to handle and may not thoroughly capture your damages. This is not in your best interests.
As a public adjuster working exclusively for you, The Claims Group uses unmatched insider knowledge of the insurance industry and a friendly, compassionate approach to empower homeowners to feel more in control of the claims process, and, most importantly, never feel the need to settle for less than what is owed.
We advocate for you every step of the way, while removing the burden and stress of dealing with insurance companies. Here’s what that looks like:
Get situated. We’ll help you find a temporary place to live that meets your needs. While this may seem obvious, insurance companies should pay for comparable temporary housing while you are displaced from your home.
Be proactive. Don’t rely solely on an estimate of repairs prepared by the insurance company adjuster as the value of your claim. Engage a public adjuster to help prepare, present and support your claim to the insurance company.
Document damage. Only you know what you owned and what condition it was in at the time of the loss. Photograph and videotape the damages before any clean-up activity occurs.
Select a contractor. Inform (preferably in writing) your designated emergency services contractor that their role is limited to immediate clean-up. You have the right to select a competent contractor to perform repairs.
Build your team. Remember, the insurance adjuster has a team working on behalf of the insurance company. Who is helping you? The Claims Group is ready to advocate on your behalf.
